The Company started its operations on April 16, 1999. Velcom renders mobile telecommunication services under velcom and PRIVET t ... rademarks based on GSM (GPRS, EDGE), UMTS (HSDPA, HSUPA), Dual-Carrier HSDPA technologies in whole Belarus, as well as fixed internet services based on own optic-fiber network. Since November 2007 velcom is a member of Telekom Austria Group (TAG), one of the most successful telecommunication holdings in the Central and Eastern Europe, which currently consists of a fixed net in Austria and eight mobile communication operational companies. In 2012 velcom was awarded by the World Finance Magazine as the most innovative mobile operator in Eastern Europe who is using of the latest technologies in its work. The Company has provided complete velcom coverage of the main highways of the country, builds network that meets the current requirements: work in 2 ranges as follows 900 MHz and 1800 MHz, support of technology of batch communication GPRS, provision of wireless access to the Internet by means of WAP. velcom is the first operator of mobile communication of GSM standard in the country that provided its subscribers with an access to high-speed data transmission by means of EDGE technology.
