Onboard Dynamics, Inc. is developing technology that will reduce the cost of compressing natural gas for use in transportation. ... We are doing this by utilizing volume-produced automotive engines to provide an integrated compressor and source of power for that compressor. Our products will allow refueling of CNG vehicles with $1 GGE (gasoline gallon equivalent) natural gas from the existing and pervasive low-pressure natural gas distribution system. The technology will initially be deployed in the form of a mobile, modular, self-powered natural gas compressor system for use in expanding natural gas fleets and as emergency back up of traditional CNG compressor stations. Subsequent products will integrate the compressor directly into the vehicle’s engine, thereby permitting the vehicle to “self-refuel” from a local source of clean and inexpensive natural gas.
