Green Valley Agro (GVA) is a modern sustainable commercial farming business in Iringa Region, Tanzania. GVA is focusing on culti ... vating fresh potatoes and multiplying & trading modern varieties of potato seeds for the local Tanzanian and sub-regional markets as well as deliver agricultural inputs for farmers (seed potato, onion seed, organic fertilizer etc.). The GVA sustainable agriculture concept integrates three goals: economic profitability, environmental sustainability and social impact. The business will be up-scaled in four stages of which stage one and two are completed and stage three is in progress. In four years from now, the business will directly benefit regional farmer’s households, boost and modernize the potato and onion value chain and generate significant net profit. GVA will harvest twice a year high quality food crops. As a large climate controlled storage is planned to be built these crops will be available for sale all year for the Tanzanian markets/industries in large quantities. GVA’s Dutch-Tanzanian management is highly experienced in farming, trading and sales & marketing. We combine Dutch agricultural and knowledge with Tanzanian agricultural farming traditions. As there is a large need in East Africa for high quality basic food crops this business case is highly profitable. The Iringa region is among the best in terms of altitude, land conditions and cultivating circumstances for potato farming in Tanzania.
