This material, recovered carbon black (rCB), supports a sustainable polymers industry. cct’s rCB manufacturing facility, in operation since 2012, is the first and only multi-thousand ton industrial production facility for rCB in Europe. rCB is a highly versatile, ecologically superior alternative to traditional carbon black. In certain applications it even outperforms traditional carbon black. Instead of using oil as feedstock, cct’s product is “recovered” from post-consumer rubber and sold into the plastics and rubber industry to be used in compounds for new materials. For each ton of feedstock processed, the overall ecosystem saves one ton of oil and avoids 1.4 tons of CO2 emissions.
