The Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID) is an international, feminist, membership organization committed to ach ... ieving gender equality, sustainable development and women's human rights. A dynamic network of women and men around the world, AWID members are researchers, academics, students, educators, activists, business people, policy-makers, development practitioners, funders, and more. We believe that working together is key for women’s rights and gender justice to be a lived reality. We support feminist and women’s rights organizations and movements to work together effectively, across issues, regions and constituencies. Our work serves to support, resource and strengthen women’s rights organizations and movements so that they in turn can be more effective in their struggles. Our current research and advocacy priority areas are: 1- Resourcing Women’s Rights: We work to revolutionize approaches to funding and put financing from a feminist perspective squarely on the development agenda. 2- Economic Justice: We seek to understand and reveal how the economy is affecting women’s lives, to strengthen efforts towards economic justice and to press for recognition of women’s struggles, knowledge and aspirations. 3- Challenging Fundamentalisms: We work to build knowledge and strengthen organizing against religious fundamentalisms. 4- Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs): We collaborate with regional and international networks to raise awareness, strengthen protection mechanisms, and respond to WHRDs at risk. 5- Young Feminist Activism: We work to highlight and support young feminist voices and activism to advance women’s rights.
