kick-off to the hundreds of springtime activities in Austin. The rain date is typically the second Sunday of March. Everyone is welcome to attend (pets too!). There is no admission to attend or to participate in the contest. Most folks come out to see the spectacular sight of hundreds or even thousands of kites in the sky and to enjoy a spring day in the park. While the Kite Festival is and always has been a free event, the money raised from vendor, booth and sponsor sales pays for the event as well as raises money for our local non-profit partner, Communities In Schools of Central Texas.
